Track Of The Day :: Sundara Karma - Loveblood

Reading quartet Sundara Karma have been quietly bubbling just below the radar for some while now since bursting out of Berkshire as 15- and 16-year-olds (including playing Reading Festival, aged 17, two years ago on the BBC Introducing stage).

With their latest highly impressive track 'Loveblood' (premiered last week by Huw Stephens on Radio One) firing up fresh enthusiasm, it might not be too much of an exaggeration to posit that we may just possibly have found the next big thing.

Following 'Indigo Puff' which was released in October, 'Loveblood', the lead track from the band's  four-song debut EP called 'EP1' which is released next month, is not too far removed from something Peace might turn out: tropical melody infused with sun-spliced guitars, percussive bursts and big fuck-off chorus; yet if you think this sounds rather formulaic and not particularly groundbreaking, listening to 'Loveblood' and other tracks on the upcoming EP, and you start to hear some very cleverly worked touches.

Sundara Karma are: Oscar Lulu (vocals), Ally Baty (guitar), Dom Cordell (bass), Haydn Evans (drums).

'EPI' is out February 23 via 203 Recordings.
